The children's horror story collection, "Goosebumps" will be gracing the big screen in 2015. "School Of Rock" actor Jack Black will star as the creepy writer of ghoulish stories, R.L. Stine.
The iconic writer brought horror stories full of macabre horror to children in the 1990's. Some of his works include "Night of the Living Dummy" and "The Haunted Mask."
Instead of adapting one or two stories from the series, the 2015 movie will center around the author's teen neighbor (played by "Scandal's" Dylan Minnette) who accidentally brings to life the monsters from Stine's books.
He then enlists the help of Stine's daughter (Israeli actress Odeya Rush) to capture the ghouls and creatures of the night and prevent them from causing any more harm to the living world.
The "Goosebumps" movie will feature Jack Black as the famous writer looking clean and dapper in the first still released through Bloody Disgusting.
"Well, I read the script, saw my friend Rob Letterman was directing it and I thought it was great. It's funny and scary-something that would be great to take my kids to. And something that would be fun to make," Black told Entertainment Weekly in an interview about the "Goosebumps" movie.
He also admitted that he didn't read the books when he was younger. He did start reading them though after receiving the script for the film. The kid-friendly comedian reportedly thought the books were "great."
When asked whether he was pressured to imitate R.L. Stine for the "Goosebumps" movie, Black said he approached the character in what he thought was the "most dramatically interesting and right for what was needed."
"I also got to meet R.L. and he's a really great guy. Really smart and funny and sweet," the actor added, "But I made [the character] more of a sort of curmudgeonly dark, brooding beast master. So from the very beginning, I was taking liberties. I think he's cool with it though."
He also revealed that the real R.L. Stine dropped by during the shooting for a cameo and the author seemed to be liking the production "or at least he pretended like he was digging it."
No official release date has been relayed for "Goosebumps."
