After a serious hospitalization last June that was confirmed to be an alcohol poisoning incident, Scott Disick quits drinking and has reportedly decided to get professional help in order to help him get through it.

According to a report from People, a close source has revealed that the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" cast member has long known that he needed help, but "was just not ready to take that leap".

As Scott Disick quits drinking after the alcohol poisoning incident, which took place as he celebrated his 31st birthday, the source said he "finally had to humble himself and say, 'Hey, I need help.'"

"It was a big step for him, and it took a lot of faith on his part," the source added. The 31-year-old Disick is expecting his third child with girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, following their 2 kids Mason (4) and Penelope (2).

Wake-up call

While the decision to get professional help was confirmed just this week, the alcohol poisoning incident that served as Disick's wake-up call took place last June.

Reported by New York Post with details from TMZ, Disick got so intoxicated while at 1Oak's Southampton location last June 22 that he told companions he thought he might have been drugged.

Disick was said to have been so drunk that he could "barely put a sentence together," and was reportedly rushed to the emergency room of Southampton Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he suffered from alcohol poisoning.

As Scott Disick quits drinking, among the measures that he will reportedly take include counselling with Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr., the Miami pastor who officiated the wedding of his sister-in-law Kim to rapper Kanye West. "He's finding his spiritual center now," the source said, adding that in spite of Disick's notorious public persona, "he's really a sensitive guy with a small spiritual side."

Many deem that Disick's hard partying prior to the alcohol poisoning might have been due to the recent death of his parents. Disick lost his mother, Bonnie in October 2013, and his father died just three months later.

"Obviously, his parents dying had a profound impact on him, and he has been grieving their loss," revealed the source. "But don't make the mistake of assuming that his problems started then. They didn't. The losses of his parents amplified some issues that he already had."

"We all turn to self-medication when we're in pain, and that's what he has done," the source added.

Full support from Kourtney, family and friends

Family and friends are said to be fully supportive as Scott Disick quits drinking. "Everyone in his life has wanted to help him," the source said.

According to a report from Hollywood Life, Disick's girlfriend Kourtney took to Instagram her full support for her babydaddy, posting: "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."

"He's taking the steps he needs to make things right," the source said.

In closing, the source pointed out that Disick struggles with the same things as us all: "I wouldn't say that his demons are any bigger than anyone else's. He just works through them publicly," the source said.
