Gina Carano news features the former Strikeforce contender's possible signing with the UFC by the following week, according to company President Dana White.
White spoke to the media in Dublin, during the Fight Night event between Connor McGregor and Diego Brandao, and was reported by MMA Junkie.
"I can't wait to meet this guy face to face," White said about the Gina Carano news. "It's going to be a typical Monday. Sh-y day."
The "guy" that Dana White was referring to is Gina Carano's lawyer, whom he is set to meet with in the hopes of signing the former Strikeforce number one featherweight contender.
Gina Carano has been out of professional mixed martial arts competition since 2009, after facing another notable name in women's MMA, Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, in a title fight for the organization's featherweight championship. "Conviction" lost the bout via first round TKO.
Since then, she took a hiatus from fighting and decided to enter filmmaking instead. Her most notable work was an appearance in the sixth "Fast & Furious" franchise film.
Just this past week, Jeremy Botter reported that Gina Carano's supposed deal with the UFC might be placed in jeopardy due to the former fighter/actress' commitments with Hollywood.
"Gina Carano to the UFC is not as much of a lock as I thought it was yesterday," Botter tweeted about the Gina Carano news. "Movie conflicts. Studio has to sign off."
However, Botter did clarify that Gina Carano's deal with the UFC is dead at all.
"Not to say it won't get done," Botter tweeted. "Just that more forces are at play than just Dana negotiating with her agent. Not as simple."
Dana White, on the other hand, says that should the deal be made, Gina Carano will be fighting current women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in December.
"Ronda's been very good to us, and if that's the fight she wants, then I'm going to try to get it done," White answered.
