The Divine Move Korean Movie: Action Film Topped Transformers 4 At Korean Box-Office; Will Debut In US Theaters July 25

The Korean movie, The Divine Move is one of the biggest box office earners in the history the country's movie industry. And now, fans in the United States will also be able to watch this action film as it debuts in theaters on July 25.

The Divine Move boasts of an ensemble, star-studded cast, and it has made news by edging out the blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction in Korea.

This was a great feat given that the movie has an rating which limits viewership to those age 19 and over. Reports say that the movie will also hit European cinemas this summer, plus it will also be part of the Germanys' Fantasy Filmfest screenings. The movie will be seen in seven cities in Germany from August 27 up to September 21.

Back in Asia, the movie will be released in mainland China, Taiwan, and Thailand this autumn, and it is being distributed by Showbox/Megaplex.

The Divine Move is considered one of the most commercially successful Korean movies of all time. It has raked in 3 million attendees, out of the 50 million total population of the country. And as of Thursday, its box office earnings has totaled $ 21.26 million. It boasts of 25 percent of all South Korea's ticket sales, and is trailing just behind another blockbuster behemoth, Dawn of The Planet of the Apes.

The movie's plot revolves around a professional baduk (Korean chess) player played by Korean superstar Jung Woo Sung, who is out for revenge for his brother's death. He penetrates the underground gambling world to so. Directed by Jo Bum-gu, The Divine Move might have a sequel in the future, as is hinted by the very open-ended conclusion of the movie.

If this is so, Jung has been reported as saying that he is ready to take part in the sequel. The actor is a well-known star in Korea, whose last movie Cold Eyes, was also a blockbuster hit despite competition from foreign imports like World War Z.
