Square Enix is biding their time with upcoming RPGs; with the Final Fantasy Explorers 3DS release date scheduled for spring or summer next year, fans are in for a long wait.

There's good news for Japanese gamers, though; Final Fantasy Explorers 3Ds release date for the local version is available as early as winter this year. Box (or cover) art has leaked from a very reliable source, confirming the release.

Square is known for restricting release for previous Final Fantasy installments to the Japanese market, and Square Enix, the developer for the game, is yet to confirm the official Final Fantasy Explorers 3DS release date for Europe and US in spite of reports for a 2015 launch.

The game is an action RPG, with single and multiplayer features. Gameplay focuses on characters beating waves of summons, which come in a variety of generations. Gamers also get to choose from summons to use, to complement with weapons and different character jobs.

Black (or White) Mage, Knight, and Monk are included in the available character jobs, and as expected, the game has players starting out as Freelancers. Tasks to take on enemies and collect materials for equipment build experience and skill.

Japan's winter Final Fantasy Explorers 3DS release date offers the advantage of first crack at the game, but US and Europe gamers will likely order copies just the same. Japanese-language RPG's rarely stopped hardcore gamer from playing, especially Final Fantasy fans.

The confirmed details for the game are considered usual fare, though; materials collected during gameplay are used to create and improve weapons and armor. Swords, axes, gloves, spears, and rods are confirmed in the arsenal.

The Final Fantasy Explorers 3DS port will support local wireless and online multiplay, and preset text messages are available for use between players.

The game doesn't deviate much from the Final Fantasy dynamic, allowing players to choose a character job and build it up with experience and equipment.

Other features, such as those which use the built-in microphone, are likely to be revealed before Final Fantasy Explorers 3DS release date.
