Dan Aykroyd finally confirms details on the "Ghostbusters 3" movie.
News on the "Ghostbusters 3" movie was dished out by Aykroyd himself on the Today show, putting to rest doubts that a follow-up to the franchise won't materialize.
Aykroyd is one of the four original Ghostbusters movie; Harold Ramis' death was a loss to the movie industry, also proved a challenge in the development and production of a new movie. Aykroyd's interview confirmed that Ghostbusters 3 movie is out of the shelf and in the works, and is probably in the early stages of production.
Akyroyd comments: "It looks like we'll be in pre-production in the spring now, from what I'm hearing. It should be good." Unfortunately, Bill Murray hasn't expressed interest in being part of the third movie, and is currently staying that way.
The first movie was filmed almost spontaneously, according to Aykroyd. "The first day we went out and were stealing shots all over Manhattan. No permits, nothing. It was pandemonium. Because people didn't know what we were yet."
Even though production for the "Ghostbusters 3" movie has been confirmed, most are still unaware of the details, especially in terms of casting. Ernie Hudson, who played the role of Winston Zeddemore in "Ghostbusters" 1 and 2, insists that announcements do come few and far in between.
"I think we're going to start shooting in the fall, or maybe the spring...once again, it kind of changes a bit...and I'm always reluctant to say anything because they tell me one thing and then it doesn't happen. It's unfortunate, you know, Harold is not here. Harold was the glue...he was amazing. He was an icon. So you're going to get a "Ghostbusters", but obviously it's going to be a "Ghostbusters" without Harold. It's going to be different. So it has to be original and it has to be something that is worth all the 30 years of waiting."
Aykroyd says the "Ghostbusters 3" movie starts production early 2015, probably released the same year (webpronews.com).
