If you miss Jack Sparrow, well, the long wait is over. Pirates of the Carribbean 5 release date is now officialy slated for July 17, 2017 (or 3 years of sleep).
According to Eonline, Walt Disney Pictures announced Wednesday (this week) that fifth Pirates of the Caribbean release date will happen three years from now.
Pirates of the Caribbean 5 release date was originally scheduled for a summer 2016 release, but production was delayed over script issues.
Johnny Depp is expected to reprise his role as the captain. Jeff Nathanson was reportedly hired to write the screenplay.
Directors of this movie will be Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, while Jerry Bruckheimer will be the producer.
Disney production president Sean Bailey explained in the fall of 2013:
"Like audiences around the globe, we have high expectations for Jack Sparrow's next adventure and we want to have all the right elements in place. We're not there yet and we want to make sure this project is everything these wonderful characters and of course the fans deserve."

The first four Pirates movies have grossed $3.7 billion; the fourth installment titled On Stranger Tides, garnered $1 billion mark. The fifth film is expecting to face stiff competition from Fantastic Four 2 and Despicable Me 3.
