LG Electronics, steps it up a notch with the release of its flagship G3 Smartphone. The 5.5-inch first mainstream smartphone with Quad HD display seem to take the entire spotlight as of now as the company announced a 165 percent increase in second-quarter net profit compared with the same period last year; perhaps due to the popularity of G3.

It has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 for a pixel density of 538 PPI, which is even higher than the 326 PPI retina display of Apple's iPhone 5. As per Techradar¸other models like the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 only have 1080p screens so this could be a huge advantage for G3.

Because of its preposterously high resolution, LG designed the new smartphone with a 3,000 millamp-hour (mAh) removable battery, as compared to S5's 2800 mAh. This was made possible through adaptive frame rates that keep the display from draining excess energy.

Aside from being the champion in the display department, other special features include its 13MP camera with advanced optical image stabilization (OIS+) and laser autofocus, which according to Arstechnica, is faster than the optical autofocus.

Such advanced camera capabilities let people capture clear shots of moving objects and of course, better selfies, which was further supported by LG Europe product marketing manager James Marshall as he said: "It makes selfies simple."

The Android 4.4 KitKat-based handset is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 and 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It features 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot.

LG also added a built-in virtual assistant called Smart Notice that offers suggestions and reminders depending on the user's location, behavior, and the status of the phone. For example, if the user hasn't opened a particular app for a long time, Smart Notice might suggest deleting it.

The phone also features the Knock Code, which allows the user to wake up and unlock the phone with a series of taps. And last but not the least is the "kill switch" that allows G3 owners to lock, wipe, clean, or permanently disable a lost or stolen smartphone.

When it comes to the look and feel of G2's successor, G3 is intelligently disguised as if it's made of metal. It also has more rounded and flatter rear buttons.

The inspiration behind this competitive model was mentioned by LG Electronics mobile communications company chief Jong-seok Park: "The smartest innovation in a fast evolving smartphone market is creating harmony between advanced technology and a simplified user experience."

Reports say that the G3 smarthphone would hit US soil by September. No final price has been announced yet but, Techradar shares, "We're still waiting on price, though it's expected to retail for roughly £550 / $925 / AU$1000 SIM free, putting it on a par with other recent flagships."
