Sad news for Pornstache fans as the actor who played the part of George Mendez confirms that he will no longer appear in the Season 3 of Orange is the New Black series. In his interview on the Netflix show, he shared:
"I'm not taking part in the third season. I'm a member of a show called 'The Brink' that's going to be on HBO. It's a half-hour comedy with Jack Black and Tim Robbins and me [as] the three leads. I'm really excited about it."
Joining a new show might have been a wise career move for Pablo Schreiber as he told Post: "I was never a series regular on 'Orange Is The New Black.' I was always a guest star. The role that I have on 'The Brink' is a starring role, and it's a no brainer. Absolutely, I chose to jump on board with that show. It was a better move for me as an actor."
Officer "Pornstache" Mendez was a crooked corrections officer and has a very close undercover relationship with Bennett. He secretly smuggles drugs into the prison with the (forced) help of Red. OITNB's Wiki page describes his character as the most ruthless of all the COs, and is seen sexually assaulting and humiliating the inmates at every opportunity as well as repeatedly targeting Sophia with nearly simultaneous transphobia and sexual advances.
"While season three is out of the picture, beyond that is open. I'm not a part of the third season, but going forward after that, we just don't know," he remarked.
"I would go anywhere that [Jenji Kohan's] working, and I know that our paths will cross again soon, whether it's on 'Orange' or on a future project."
One difference that the audience must look forward to is Laura Prepon's full time exposure as Alex Vause.
"The fact remains that I want to do Orange, and it's a matter of trying to balance different aspects of your career," Prepon shares.
"Unfortunately, there was not two of me... I tried to do as many Oranges as I could. For season 3, I've already handled it so it's not going to be a problem."
The former "That 70's Show" actress also told Entertainment Weekly that Alex's character fits her like a glove.
One of the most intriguing scenes she's now working on is her intimate moment with Taylor Schilling who plays the part of Chapman. During the 2014 Critics' Choice TV awards, Prepon gave E! News a slight hint about the experience as she shared, "Honestly, Taylor and I are so comfortable with each other -- Thank God!"
International Business Times also revealed that Dominican-American actress Dascha Polanco who plays Dayanara Diaz on the show would be reappearing in next season, along with Yael Stone also known as Lorna Morello, Samira Wilet as Poussey Washington, and Adrienne Moore as Black Cindy.
Rumors say that Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen will be part of the next season, but no official statement regarding her role has been made yet.
Orange Is The New Black Season 3 is expected to be released in early 2015.
