Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's "Hercules" was said to have the best depiction of the mythical hero. However, reviews from movie critics might prove otherwise.
According to a review by Geoffrey Macnab of The Independent, "It's unclear whether this is a full-on spoof or if it has actually been made in deadly earnest."
"The battle scenes are staged with commendable vigour. Ratner throws in Ben-Hur like chariot chases and plentiful moments in which Hercules clubs his various enemies to death, fights off fiery animals by ripping open their jaws or knocks down statues of Hera."
"Whatever the case, it's all good, idiotic matinee entertainment."
While Tom Huddleston of Time Out commented, "Strap on your swordbelt, buckle your sandals and oil up your rippling six-pack, because here comes yet another interminable, CGI-drenched mythic mish-mash with far more money than brain cells."
It seems that The Rock's new movie has received more negative feedback, but this doesn't stop him from being his confident self.
At the LA premiere of "Hercules" in TLC Chinese Theater in Hollywood, the 42-year-old actor stepped out on the red carpet with his girlfriend, Lauren Hashian.
According to Yahoo," The two have been dating for several years, reportedly after the then-married actor met the Massachusetts native while filming his 2007 sports-comedy 'The Game Plan.' That relationship, some speculate, led to Johnson's 2008 divorce from wife Dany Garcia."
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson shared how he became very depressed after his divorce.
"Once I manned up and became accountable for the mess I was in, that's when it all hit me. What kind of dad does this make me? What kind of man will I now become? Failing at marriage and as a husband was a heavy thing, and divorce had that special way of knocking me on my ass."
Yahoo adds: "Johnson and Hashian - whose only other red-carpet appearance was at the opening for last year's 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' - were all smiles. Maybe the next step for the Rock and his girlfriend is...a rock?"
