Nick Diaz news features the elder Diaz brother's signing of a new three-fight deal with the UFC, while company president Dana White is uncertain about his fighter's clamored bout against Anderson Silva.
UFC.com first reported the Nick Diaz news, as the 30-year old Stockton, California native dropped by the UFC headquarters in Las Vegas to make the deal official.
The former number one welterweight contender spoke about how his year off from competition has benefitted him as a fighter.
"I've been doing a whole lot of not getting punched around-type stuff," Diaz explained. "I've been staying in shape pretty good, doing a lot of running. It's been a good experience having this much time off."
Nick Diaz, who is considered as one of "MMA's bad boys" last fought at UFC 158 in March 2013, in a title fight against former champion Georges St-Pierre. Unfortunately for him, he was not able to capture the UFC gold as he lost via unanimous decision, and subsequently announced his hiatus from MMA competition.
But now that he seems to have recharged, the former Strikeforce champion says he is willing to step into the cage anytime.
"Next year I guess, whatever though. I can fight tomorrow; tonight," he said. "You have to do what you have to do. [I came today] to sort things out with Dana White and Lorenzo [Fertitta]."
Nick Diaz news also reveals that the elder Diaz brother has been clamored to face former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, which he himself is open to doing.
"I'd be interested in fighting [Anderson Silva] and anything that's going to do well," Diaz said. "As far as Anderson Silva, I think that would be a great fight for people to see because he has my type of style."
However, UFC President Dana White shot down the idea for the mean time, while "The Spider" is still in recovery from his injury.
"There is no update on Anderson vs Diaz," White said through his Twitter account. "Anderson can't fight till Feb. Lorenzo and I have not even talked to Anderson."
