Casey Kasem's wife Jean is now in more trouble as her hired lawyers from Los Angeles-based firm Haney & Young quit her controversial case.
According to a report by TMZ, the lawyers of Casey's widow have asked the court to relieve them as her counsel ASAP, almost coinciding with a recent discovery by investigators that the missing body of the late radio host was allegedly moved to the hometown of Jean's suspected lover.
The former host of radio show "American Top 40" died in June 2014 due to sepsis, and was said to have dementia. Since Casey's death, his second wife Jean has been involved in a court battle with his children from his first marriage to Linda Myers, namely Julie, Kerri and Mike. The latter two are former video jocks in MTV Channel.
Casey Kasem's wife has allegedly not been responding to any of her former lawyers' correspondence, including emails and phone calls.
Reports also revealed that Casey Kasem's wife owes her former lawyers a total of $500,000 in unpaid fees for her various legal battles. If Jean fails to settle the balance, the money will allegedly come out of Casey's estate.
Jean was given control of Casey's remains, but the radio icon has yet to be laid to rest more than a month after dying. On Wednesday, Casey's body was reportedly removed from a funeral home in Washington and flown to Montreal, Canada.
A development reported in NY Daily News revealed that Montreal is the hometown of a man who is allegedly the lover of Casey Kasem's wife.
According to an investigator hired by Casey's daughter Kerri, the alleged lover is 46-year-old businessman John Paul Gressy. The investigator says he holds evidence that Jean and Gressy are in a romantic relationship.
The lover of Casey Kasem's wife allegedly even lived in Kasem's Malibu condo for months.
