Nick Diaz has just agreed to participate in a three-fight contract extension with the UFC. He plans to make a comeback to the Octagon by next year, according to his promotion officials. Dana White, UFC President, confirmed this piece of news via Twitter on Thursday. She even tweeted a photograph of Nick Diaz while he was in the UFC headquarters located in Las Vegas.

Nick Diaz (26-9) already announced his retirement after he came up a bit short in a UFC title bid against popular Georges St-Pierre at the top-rated UFC 158 back in March of 2013. He has always been vocal about his intention to fight again since his official retirement announcement, but nothing has actually materialized.

According to White, Nick Diaz was offered a bout against Carlos Condit at the UFC 171 in March, but he decided to say 'No' to this offer. The 30-year-old Nick Diaz was still present during the event, only, this time, as a spectator. However, even if he was not inside the ring, he was reportedly heard heckling the newly crowned champion, Johny Hendricks.

Nick Diaz informed UFC.com that was always ready, and that he was, according to his statement, ready to fight "tonight." Still, though, it appears that he will only get to appear inside the ring by 2015. He stated, "Next year, I guess. I can fight tomorrow, tonight. You have to do what you have to do. It was hard times for a little bit, but people act like I've been doing nothing. I've been getting things done. Just because I'm not getting punched around every day doesn't mean I'm not focused on what I'm doing."

Since the beginning of 2014, Jorge Guimaraes and Ed Soares, the managers of Anderson Silva, publicly expressed their interest in pairing the UFC middleweight champion (33-6) with Nick Diaz. At present, though, the 39-year-old Silva is recovering from a broken leg that he suffered from his last fight.
