Fan boys and girls are geeking out at this possible, and future intersection of two fantasy worlds. Steven Moffat, the executive producer of the highly popular Doctor Who series has confirmed that Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson might direct a future episode or two of Doctor Who.

That is, after The Hobbit 3's Peter Jackson finishes with his blockbuster movies.

Moffatt confirmed that he has been in discussions with Peter Jackson in getting the director to helm a Doctor Who episode. The only consideration is the busy schedule that the film director has in his hands.

"I think it will happen at some point," Moffat said in an interview with SFX. "He's still incredibly busy on The Hobbit. I've spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one. I mean, he can do what the hell he likes - he owns New Zealand!"

Furthermore, Jackson will not be getting paid for his directing efforts of the hugely popular BBC sci-fi show. Moffat shared that the director would often get in touch with him after a particular episode is premiered, and would hint at possibilities of a collaborations. . "He's a nice guy; he quite often drops me a line after a show goes out. He's into it - it's just, 'Can you make it work?' " Moffat says.

This news of Peter Jackson possibly directing a Doctor Who episode has been around since last year, since it is well known that the New Zealander is an avid fan of the long-running BBC show. Moffat even revealed that Peter Jackson, would be willing to accept a non-traditional type of renumeration for his work. "We give him a Dalek and then he'll direct an episode," Moffat has said. "That's what he wants."

One of the possible storylines that came up when the two were discussing Doctor Who episode possibilities involved the New Zealand national rugby team, the All Blacks. Moffat told Entertainment Weekly that the All Blacks could be pitted against the Doctor Who villains. "Something to do with the All Blacks versus the Daleks," Moffat said. "There's a good story in there, although obviously the All Blacks would have to win!"
