Chinese actress Tang Wei, who gained popularity through the film "Lust, Caution," wed Korean film director Kim Tae Yong in a small ceremony at Sweden.
On July 22, news outlet Dispatch confirmed the news with the actress during a press conference for the beauty brand SK-II.
Tang Wei, who was congratulated by fellow endorser Cate Blanchett, revealed, "We already had our wedding ceremony in Sweden."
Their respective agencies confirmed the news, stating that the couple wed on July 12. The venue, a small home on the Swedish island of Faro, is a special place for the couple, being the birthplace of the legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman.
The ceremony, according to sources, was a spur of the moment decision for the couple, and was visited by some locals. It was said that the couple also spent their honeymoon in Sweden.
Last June, Tang Wei disclosed in an event, "There is a place in Sweden that I have always wanted to visit. It's a trip to appreciate Mother Nature."
In another interview, Tang Wei was asked about her speedy engagement, to which she answered that when a woman comes across the 'life-changing opportunity,' she shouldn't let it pass by.
Meanwhile, their agencies also revealed that the couple's official wedding will be on August, and will only be attended by their family members. The exact date and venue will not be shared to the public.
The couple met on the set of the 2010 film "Late Autumn," starring Hyun Bin and Tang Wei, and directed by Kim Tae Yong.
After finishing the film, the two remained as friends, and started dating on October 2013 when Tang Wei visited Korea for a product shoot.
They announced their engagement on July 2.
