Henry Cavill girlfriend Gina Carano's December fight might not come to pass. According to ESPN, UFC president Dana White says he is still "positive" about the possibility of having a done deal with former fighter Gina Carano but negotiations are "complicated."
Reportedly, White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta met with Carano in Los Angeles to have her sign a deal for a 135-pound title fight against Ronda Rousey on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas. According to Cagewriter, White told reporters that the fight is not on the UFC's annual New Year's Eve card; instead it is the only pay-per-view the UFC has scheduled in December.
ESPN noted that prior to the meeting, White is very optimistic about having the deal with former "Strikeforce" champ done. However, on Saturday, White disclosed that there was no update on Carano.
"It's complicated," White said according to ESPN. "I'm very positive about it, but it's complicated. I'm still working on it. That's all I can say."
Report says that when White was asked if he still hoped Carano would be available on Dec. 6, he responded, "I don't know."
According to the website Syracuse, Carano, 32, will star on a film titled "The Opium War," which is scheduled to begin production by the end of summer or later. The film will be directed by Justin Steele. Reportedly, this might affect Carano's potential return to MMA in the anticipated title bout with Ronday Rousey.
Bleacher Report states that Carano is well-thought-out to be the "original face of women's MMA," which she started during her period in Strikeforce. Meanwhile, Rousey helped in putting female participant on the "mainstream map."
Despite plenty of interest among fans in seeing her return and compete in the UFC, Carano has not fought for almost five years after her 7-0 run was ended in a first-round TKO loss to "Cyborg" Justino in August 2009.
