Director James Gunn said the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie is more of a space adventure than a superhero film. He used five distinct ways to turn the movie into an awesome but strange (in a hilarious way) hit for 2014.
Christopher Rosen of HuffingtonPost (Huffpost Entertainment) has recently divulged what these elements and techniques are. Below are three of them:
1. He used obsolete gadgets that make the story interesting.
Director James Gunn co-wrote "Guardians of Galaxy" screenplay with Nicole Perlman. According to him, their use of the Sony walkman to denote Peter Quill's connection with his mother serves as the heart of the film. Quill's fondness for his gadget established his love for music in the film.
2. Marvel gave him much leeway in experimenting with the film.
Strangeness, according to huffingtonPost, is innate in the plot components of the film. The main characters comprise an unusual assemblage of creatures that include Rocket, a raccoon with human-like thinking and personality and Groot, a reactive alien tree species that introduces himself repeatedly.
Director James Gunn said that despite his being stunned, he felt motivated by how much leeway Marvel gave him to make the movie humorous.
3. He did not want to make a superhero film.
Director James Gunn said the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie may feature misfits who become unlikely superheroes, but he made it to become more like a space adventure than a superhero movie. He said that it bears the strong influence of Jon Favreau and Josh Whedon the people who have already made their marks in creating awesome Marvel superhero films. However, he also noted that it is more strongly influenced by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
Fans need not wait much longer. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie is slated for release on August 1, 2014. In fact, as early as July 27, Marvel Studios has already set the date for its part 2 opening on July 28, 2017, as reported by nowrunning.com.
