Tech authorities have been giving fairly impressive rates for the recently launched flagship phones Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. But should one standout from the other? Check out this comparison of their specs and features!
Display
Galaxy S5 has a 5.1 inch super AMOLED display with a full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 at 430 ppi. HTC One (M8) on the other hand, has a 5 inch super LCD display rendering the same resolution of S5 only with higher pixel density - 441 ppi.
S5's display features include 3D Capability and Additional Display Support which are not available in M8. However, both devices have ambient light sensors, multi touch features, and proximity sensors.
According to Display Mate, S5 has the "best performing smartphone display we've ever tested" perhaps due to its brightness, color accuracy, and contrast ratio.
Hardware
M8 is powered by Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 GHz with 2GB of RAM. Samsung is also powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, only clocked at 2.5 GHz with 2GB of RAM. As per Rightware Browsermark, a site that measures gaming, browser, and user interface performance for mobile devices, S5 is faster than M8 but nonetheless, the hardware features of this flagship phone from HTC is definitely better from its predecessor's tech.
Both phones are available in 16 and 32 GB variants, but HTC One M8 can support memory card up to 132 GB as compared to S5's 128 GB.
Camera
Samsung S5 has a 16 MP rear camera and 2.1 MP front-facing camera, while HTC M8 has 4MP rear camera and 5 MP front-facing camera. S5 has 4K maximum video resolution as compared to HTC's 1080 p. Digital image stabilization, Slow-Mo, and Sound & Shot are some of the camera features only available in the Samsung device.
Battery
S5 carries a 2800 mAh Li Ion battery while HTC has 2600 mAh Li Polymer. Samsung can last 29 hours of talking time as compared to M8's 20 hours.
Price
HTC One M8 is priced at $620, which is generally higher than the $582-worth Samsung device.
