Sherri Shepherd latest news: The former "The View" TV show host will be in her first gig after her hosting stint with ABC is over. According to Deadline, Sherri Shepherd is joining the cast of Universal's Ride Along 2 to be directed by Tim Story. Shepherd has signed a role opposite Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

The movie is a sequel of 2014's hit comedy Ride Along. The movie is set for release on January 15, 2016 produced by Ice Cube, Matt Alvarez, Will Packer, and Larry Brezner and exec producer Scott Bernstein. Shepherd will be joined by Ken Jeong and Olivia Munn in the movie.

In addition to her seven-year stay with The View, Shepherd recently had a recurring role on CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Her TV comedy credits include Everybody Loves Raymond, 30 Rock, Hot In Cleveland, and her own Lifetime sitcom Sherri.

"I've been blessed to interview Barack Obama; Bill Clinton is a big fan of mine - he loved that I played a hooker in One For The Money," Shepherd told The View watchers earlier this month.

"You know I'm a woman of faith, and seven is the number of God's completion. I've been here seven years, and my time with 'The View' is complete. I'm going to forever be grateful to Barbara Walters and (producer) Bill Geddie for taking a chance on an actress and making me learn things, helping me step out of my comfort zone. They gave me a chance," Shepherd stated regarding her leaving The View.

"I love the cast and crew. They made me feel like this is my family. Thank you. Thank you," Shepherd said extending her gratitude.

Reportedly, ABC's proposed overhaul came as a surprise to Shepherd and McCarthy last June. A source told E! News that the news came like a bomb to both co-hosts.

After she served her time with "The View," Shepherd will also be seen in Chris Rock's upcoming Toronto Film Fest dramedy Top Five. She is represented by ICM Partners and Darris Hatch Management.
