Which is smartphone is worth the purchase? We pit the HTC One Mini against Google's Nexus 5 to see which is the ideal choice for consumers.
In terms of design and display, the HTC One Mini has a 4.3 inches Super LCD2 screen that can support a resolution of 720x1280pixels, while the Nexus 5 has a larger screen of 4.95 inches, and it is a True HD IPS screen that renders a higher resolution of 1080x1920pixels.
The HTC One Mini is smaller than the original , measuring 132×63.2×9.3 mm and weights 122 grams, being 8grams lighter than the Nexus 5, which measures at 137.9×69.2×8.6 mm.
For hardware and OS, the HTC One Mini is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.4GHz dual core krait 200 processor and has 16GB of internal storage, but it’s unexpandable.
The Nexus 5’s hardware on the other hand is much superior, and it is powered by Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.3GHz quad core krait 400 processor. The Nexus 5 has two variants of internal memories: 16 and 32GB, also unexpandable. Both smartphones run on the Android platform, but on different versions: the HTC One Mini runs on the Jelly Bean version with 1GB of RAM, while the Nexus 5 is on the KitKat version with 2GB of RAM.
For battery usage and camera specs, both smartphones have non-removable Li-Po batteries, but HTC One Mini’s battery has a lower capacity of 1800mAh that allows users to talk up to 13 hours on 3G. Meanwhile the Nexus 5’s battery is much superior, because it has a capacity of 2300mAh, which allows users to talk up to 17 hours on 3G.
The cameras on both devices share the same features: autofocus and LED flash. The HTC One Mini’s rear facing camera is at 4 Ultrapixel, while the front camera is at 1.6MP. The Nexus 5 has an 8MP primary camera and another 1.3MP secondary camera.
The HTC One Mini 601E costs $380 in amazon.com. The Nexus 5 16GB variant has the same price as its rival, while the 32GB variant costs $456.
