The only goal of the game Roma vs. Real Madrid was scored by Francesco Totti in Texas. This goal ended The European champion Real Madrid's hopes of retaining the International Champion Cup.

The first half of the match was goalless until Roma took the lead after 58 minutes. Totti and his team were able to turn the game around. Their talismanic number 10 was involved in the build-up, dummying the original ball which found Florenzi, before continuing his run into the box and powering beyond a helpless Diego Lopez.

Although the late substitutions killed the flow of the game, Roma managed to keep their guards up and show a brilliant game play, thus, winning the match. Cole, who made the switch to Italy on a free transfer from Chelsea earlier this summer, was upbeat after the win and says he is doing his best to adapt to his new surroundings.

He was enthusiastic in joining his new team. Cole mentioned that this victory is a good buffer for the confidence of the team, given that the players that make up Roma are relatively young and have a long way to run in the field of football.

Cole also said that he is taking his time in learning Italian to be able to get along with his teammates. It is easy on the pitch, he said, because football is football but having a bond with the other players is different and will be a lot smoother if he learned their language.

On the other hand, Real midfielder Xabi Alonso said that Roma played well during the match. "They've done well to score a goal-we couldn't get over that. It's just pre-season," Alonso said. Real Madrid is looking forward for their match against Manchester and is expecting it to be a big one. "It's about getting fit, having good sessions. We are not really concerned with results." Alonso added.
