"The Big Bang Theory" creators have decided to delay season 8's production due to contract disputes of at least five cast members.
As of late, actors Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg have not yet received deals with Warner Bros. Television, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The production company released an official statement on Wednesday, saying, "Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on The Big Bang Theory - which was originally scheduled to begin today - has been postponed."
Multiple sources claimed that Cuoco, Parson and Galecki are all seeking an increase in their salary. Last season, the trio received $325,000 per episode and they wish to increase the amount at $1 million per half-hour, the same publication confirmed.
Helberg and Nayyar are pooling a similar raise, while their co-stars, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, have already closed a reasonable deal with the production company.
CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler previously commented on the possibility of experiencing contract disputes, two weeks before the current news came out, Press Herald reported.
In an interview at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour weeks ago, Tassler teased, "I just love being able to answer these questions year-after-year, primarily because we have successful shows."
She continued, "We're feeling very confident that everything will work out. These deals manage to get done somehow miraculously year after year," Tassler said at that time.
Last month, series creator Chuck Lorre told E! News, "It will be fine. Warner Brothers has done this before. Everybody should be very successful and happy and rich. They earned it. It's a great cast. Great cast. It's their time."
Meanwhile, "Big Bang Theory" is slated for release this coming September 22 and has moved to a Monday timeslot, from its usual Thursday night schedule. However, there are no updates yet when production will resume for the well-loved American series.
