5 Seconds of Summer broke US records as they topped this week's Billboard Top 200 Chart, with their first number one album.

The Australian band recently released their self-titled album in the United States and immediately received a huge following among their American fans.

5 Seconds of Summer's success also served as the first ever instance for an Australian act to go straight up to number one on the Billboard 200 chart, according to Entertainment Wise. As of late, the band's album has already sold approximately 259,000 copies in the United States alone.

This marks the third most successful sales since the beginning of 2014, following only Coldplay 's "Ghost Stories" and Eric Church's albums, LA Times reported.

Band members Michael, Luke Calum and Ashton have each expressed their delight over the news. Ashton Irwin for instance, tweeted, "To everyone that's been a part of the journey so far we love you so much, you guys made the album number #1 in the US, we are speechless..."

5 Seconds of Summer's single "She Looks So Perfect"initially debuted at number two on the charts during its release in April. Several months after, it gained even more popularity and landed at the number one spot on the chart, The Music noted.

The album consists of three other songs, namely, "Heartache on the Big Screen," "The Only Reason" and "Disconnected."

"She Looks So Perfect" is also ranked number one in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Italy, Holland and Mexico. It is currently ranked number two in the UK and has grossed a total of 1.5 million copies sold across the globe, the same publication noted.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Australian band announced their upcoming North American tour entitled, "Rock Out with Your Socks Out" tour. The concert will commence on July 2015.

Prior to the big event, 5 Seconds of Summer will join One Direction on a tour to be held at the Rose Bowl this coming September 11 to 13.
