The highly publicized Oscar Pistorius Trial is nearing its end.

After the prosecution hands over their final written statements to Judge Thokozile Masipa on Wednesday, July 30, the South African Paralympian's defense team will do the same on August 4.

Court will then resume to publicly discuss the closing arguments. Judge Masipa, after deliberating the case with an assessor, will take about a month to issue her final verdict.

Many followers of the case are wondering about the double amputee athlete's fate. Will he face jail time or will he be acquitted of all charges?

In a previous report, the 27-year-old athlete faces four possible outcome in the trial. None of the scenarios could give him absolute freedom from serving time.

Although he pleaded not guilty to premeditated murder, Pistorius still admitted to shooting her girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentines Day last year. Should he be found guilty for murdering his girlfriend of three months in cold blood, he could face life in prison.

He could also be sentenced with 15 years of serving should the court find him guilty of murder instead. On the other hand, he could have a lesser sentencing for negligence.

If he were to be found not guilty of the three charges, he would still get at least 15 years of jail time for three firearm charges presented during the trial.

The court spent 39 grueling days for the Oscar Pistorius trial. Witnesses for and against the star athlete were cross-examined.

Tears were shed and Pistorius even vomited after seeing pictures of his deceased lover. His mental health was questioned, while every detail of his and Steenkamp's relationship was put out in the open and discussed thoroughly.

During the trial's break, the South African athlete was embroiled in a brawl in a Johannesburg club, which his uncle, Leo Pistorius, claimed to have been due to “loneliness and alienation.” Whether this incident damaged the Paralympic gold medalist's case or not remains to be seen until court resumes next week.
