Chris Pratt workout program buffed him up for "Guardians of the Galaxy," but the actor admits bulking up for the role was a challenge.
Christ Pratt's workout routine was forced on him, given the actor's comments on the demands of his role of Star Lord on the "Guardians of the Galaxy," out on theaters Friday.
Chris admitted he was embarrassed about his weight early on, especially during auditions. In a Reuters interview: "I had been embarrassed doing auditions where I was 35 or 30 pounds overweight and I wasn't mentally or physically sharp. Like G.I. Joe, I could see their eyes glaze over halfway through the audition and that hurts your feelings. ..."
The actor was reportedly rejected halfway through the auditions because of his weight, which prompted him to go on a strict diet to lose the pounds and bulk up.
Chris says his previous roles as the chubby sidekick grew on him, contributing to the weight gain. "I didn't know who I was and what I was capable of doing. I had done a lot of sidekick characters, I had put on a lot of weight over the eight years I had been with my wife. We'd been in love and eating fabulous foods and drinking wine and I was getting more work than before by playing the schlubby sidekick characters." (sfgate.com)
That's all water under the bridge now, and Chris Pratt's workout program surely paid off for the actor. "What I want is to not have to do a different job. I want this to be my job forever. A regular job where you work it till the job is done, and then you retire, and you live the good life until the good Lord comes and takes you. That's what I want."
Chris can now identify with what other celebrities go through just to make the cut. Chris Pratt's workout program will likely follow through, especially if he's called to reprise his role as Star Lord on a sequel (designntrend.com).
