Which smartphone is worth the purchase? We pit the Nexus 5 against the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 to see which device is the better choice.

In terms of design and display, the Nexus 5 has a Full HD IPS touch screen that measures 5 inches and it can render a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone shows off a Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and a pixel density of 445 pixels-per-inch.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has a slightly bigger display measuring 5.25 inches long TFT and renders a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its pixel density is at 280 pixels-per-inch.

For the hardware and OS, the Nexus 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that is clocked at 2.26 GHz and it runs on the Android KitKat 4.4 (you can update this OS to the 4.4.2 version). The smartphone can be purchased with two variants of internal storage space: either 16GB or 32GB. It does not have a microSD slot, which users cannot expand the memory by any amount. It has a 2GB RAM which makes it the perfect for multitasking.

As for the Samsung’s Galaxy Grand 2, it is powered by a Cortex A7 processor: quad core working at 1.2 GHz and runs on the Android Jelly Bean 4.3. It only has one variant when it comes to internal memory, that being 8GB. However, this smartphone does have a microSD slot, and it can expand its memory up to 64GB and has 1.5 GB of RAM.

For battery usage and camer specs, the Nexus 5 has a 2300 mAh battery unit, while the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has a 2600 mAh one .

The Nexus 5 has an 8MP primary camera and apart from the basic features, it has an optical image stabilization. As for secondary camera, it has a 1.3 MP camera.The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 on the other hand has an 8MP primary camera which does not feature optical image stabilization. Instead, it shows off a better secondary camera of 1.9MP.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 cost around $309.99, while the Nexus 5 (16 GB) is at $379.03.
