Known as the "King of Selfie", James Franco's Instagram is filled with many photos of himself and the people he encounters everywhere he goes. Because of his love for selfies, he even wrote an article entitled "The Meaning of Selfie" for New York Times. It was published last December and here we get to understand why he is fond of taking pictures of himself.
The 36-year old actor revealed, "Selfies are something new to me, but as I have become increasingly addicted to Instagram, I have been accused of posting too many of them." James Franco explained, "A well-stocked collection of selfies seems to get attention. And attention seems to be the name of the game when it comes to social networking."
The "Palo Alto" star also wrote, "I am actually turned off when I look at an account and don't see any selfies, because I want to know whom I'm dealing with. In our age of social networking, the selfie is the new way to look someone right in the eye and say, 'Hello, this is me.'"
Despite the controversies that the actor faced before - from flirting with a minor to posting nearly naked photos, many people still get hooked on James Franco's Instagram. Why? Because fans learn more about the actor through his photos.
During a guest appearance at "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", the actor showed the host how to take the perfect selfie. James Franco said, "I like to take pictures with people at the stage door of the show. They are obviously very supportive and I try to give them what they want and give them a picture."
However, Jimmy Fallon noticed that he has the same look in all of his photos with his fans - wearing a cap and dark glasses. The 39-year old comedian said, "The creepiest scary face I've ever seen." Franco explained that the older people tend to hold the camera too close or too high that's why he chose to wear a baseball cap and glasses so he would look good in any angle. But the actor takes off his cap and glasses or even more on James Franco's Instagram.
