In lieu of Louis van Gaal reign over Manchester United, Ashley Young admits that he is ready to change his role in the team in order to impress the new boss. With van Gaal being the new manager, the team is set to a new system. The Dutchman looks set to play with wing-backs and Young has been tried there in pre-season and apparently enjoying it.
The 29-year-old athlete whose future Old Trafford looked uncertain as of now is hoping for a fresh chance under van Gaal's regime.
He expressed his delight when asked by the Daily Mirrors. "I can play in both wing-back positions and if the manager calls on me to do something, I've got every confidence in myself to go out there and play well." he added.
Young said that the Inter game was only his second time he had played there, but they train in van Gaal's new system and that he feels capable of going out there and doing well.
"I'll have to see how it goes and it's down to the manager what happens because he picks the team that goes out there."
"But whenever I'm called upon, I'll give 100 percent and if I can continue producing performances like the one in Washington, then I can hopefully stay in the team."
Van Gaal's take over on Manchester United obviously stirs up the passion in the athletes and certainly motivates each to do better and themselves to the brim of their potentials.
"Of course it was disappointment to miss out on the World Cup, but it's a new season and a new manager has come in."
Finally, Young openly admitted that everyone in the team wants to impress their new boss, and the only way to do that is by training hard and performing on the pitch and that's what they, and particularly him, will be looking to do.
