Stuart Pearce, the Nottingham Forest boss is headstrong and firm that key men such as Henri Lansbury will not be sold this summer. The Former England U21 international Lansbury will continue to be linked with an imminent switch, with Burnley and Wigan Athletic reported to be monitoring his situation.
Jamaal Lascelles-a promising defender and highly-rated goalkeeper Karl Darlow are also being eyed with admiring glances from the Premier League. However, despite the suitors, Pearce remains to be fixed that these men are bound to stay in Notthingham Forest. He has already formally warned the so-called admirers and expressed his side that he has no intention of sanctioning sales.
"If I, as a manager, know that we sell players and it will not be invested back into the club, then there is no real drive for me to sell a player." Pearce also said that Henri is not somebody they would be willing to sell.
"I built a good rapport with Henri through the international years; he is a very good player in this league. We want to hang on to our better players; it is as simple as that."
It is not concern for the Nottingham Forest boss that there might be interest in Henri or in any of their better players. The selling of players does not seem to appeal to him very much for he wants to grow the club rather than dismantle it.
"We want to create a culture where hopefully there will be scouts coming to look at six, seven or eight of our better players in the future."
This expression of interest by other clubs leads Pearce to thinking that they are in a good position and shape because if nobody takes notice of the players, then that would tell something about the particular squad, he said.
"We will discuss every offer that comes in. If we think we can take the club forward by selling and reinvesting, then brilliant."
