The show will go on! With Pat Torpey!
After several reports came out that Mr. Big's drummer was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, fans were extremely worried whether they will ever see him perform with the band again. Great news though, as the man himself confirmed that he will try to overcome the disease and continue to record with the band!
"I've been dealing with Parkinson's symptoms for the past couple of years and only recently received a confirmed diagnosis as symptoms worsened," says Torpey in a statement "I intend to fight the disease with the same intensity and tenacity that I drum and live my life by and will continue recording and performing, as always, to the best of my ability."
According to loudwire, due to his condition, Torpey will not be able to perform his normal drumming duties on the band's upcoming tour dates. Mr. Big will announce a primary drummer in the near future who will handle the bulk of the stick work on the band's fall 2014 tour. The group will be supporting their upcoming album, '... The Stories We Could Tell.'
Torpey won't be completely absent, however, as he expects to jump on the drums for suitable songs and may participate in the group's acoustic sets, as well. Mr. Big expect to return to the road in October and November for their World Tour. Dates can be found here.
Every Mr. Big fan knows that Pat Torpey is never giving up without a fight, he will continue to perform as long as he can. Just look at Def Leppard's Rick Allen, he is famous for overcoming the complete amputation of his left arm and continuing to play with the band, which subsequently went on to its greatest popular success worldwide. His fans now call him the Thunder God. Many would like to see Pat go the same path.
