Manchester United's new boss Louis van Gaal has already confirmed that Robin van Persie will not be able to play in the opening game of the new Premier League season against Swansea City. The athlete has been on leave since helping the Netherlands to place third at the World Cup in Brazil last month and will return to training on Monday.
He had missed the United's pre-season tour of the United States and he will also be missing the club's final friendly against Valencia at Old Trafford. The Red Devil's boss van Gaal has also decided and said that he will not append the 30-year-old plater for the visit of Swansea on the opening day of the Premier League campaign on August 16, Saturday.
"Robin will begin training on Monday but he won't play against Valencia, definitely not," said van Gaal. "He won't play in the Premier League either."
He said that when a player has been on holiday for three weeks, they have to train rigorously in order to condition their bodies and maintain fitness. "I'm sorry but players have to train and Robin needs a full training regime behind him before he can play."
Van Gaal said that people can criticize him for his decision and people can freely do so, but he, for sure, knows what is best for his players and most especially, he knows just what to do with players who had a three-week-holiday-that is to train fully.
Robin van persie has to gain his fitness back before he can play a game; and although he wants to play each, van Gaal being an efficient manager, said he has to be fair with the other 30 players in the squad who have trained for so long to play in the upcoming matches. It would somewhat be unfair if he lets van Perise play immediately after his leave.
