Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to return to former club Manchester United, instead he signed a new long-term deal at the Bernabeu last summer, and is now tied up to Madrid until 2018.
Ronaldo joined Madrid in 2009, but has been linked with a return on a number of occasions, including last summer. The 29-year old athlete has never previously ruled out returning to United, but signed up for a new club anyway.
In spite of his new deal with Real Madrid, Ronaldo admitted that an emotional reunion could be possible when they come face-to-face with United in Michigan on Saturday. "Of course, it was one of my favorite clubs, Manchester," Ronaldo told the Manchester Evening News.
"Everyone knows that every time when I speak about Real Madrid, I should speak about Manchester United. I love it there."
Ronaldo was 18 years old when he won everything with United. He said that people treat him like a god there that is why he appreciates the entire club and the future, whether he will come back or not, is uncertain.
The athlete claimed that he still has contact with some of the players in United since he had created a rapport with everybody-including the staff around.
"It was like my second family there too so I'll not forget that the people treated me well."
He added: "I appreciate this club, for me it's one of the best clubs in the world and I have passion for this club."
Ronaldo being sentimental about Manchester United also said that he is happy at Real Madrid as it is his home now and they have treated him well, too. However, the possibility of his comeback to United is not ruled out.
The Portugal star also offered his best wishes to United as they are now being introduced to a new system under the sovereignty of Louis van Gaal.
"It will be a better season for sure, my feeling is he is a fantastic coach, he showed it for Holland," Ronaldo said if van Gaal.
"I think van Gaal is going to do a fantastic job, he's experienced manager and I think he's going to do well for Manchester."
