"American Idol" finalist Michael Johns passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 35. The singer-songwriter died of a blood clot in his leg that resulted from a twisted ankle as family and friends pay their respects.

Mail Online reported that "American Idol" finalist Michael Johns had been in pain prior to the discovery of his death. He was found lifeless on his friend's couch. According to Hollywood Life, his twitter administrator had confirmed his demise via a post on August 2.

After the twitter confirmation, Hollywood Life reported that Fox issued a statement on the same day, expressing their grief over the sad news. They said that Michael was a great talent and had been part of the "American Idol" family. Hence, they will miss him.

The news devastated his family and friends. However, they expressed gratitude for the consolation and support of Michael's fans from around the world. They have also asked supporters to remember Michael and to respect their privacy to grieve for their loved one during this heartbreaking time.

According to Mail Online, "American Idol" finalist Michael Johns, who was born Michael John Lee, hailed originally from Perth, Australia. He came from a musically inclined family and had a very close relationship with his mother Janet and stepfather John Burke.

Back in his heyday, Michael had said that he grew up around music. His siblings sang and played the piano, and his stepdad was a wonderful singer.

As reported by Hollywood Life, "American Idol" finalist Michael Johns made a name for himself on the popular talent search show during its season 7. He placed eighth. After he got eliminated, he went on to pursue his musical career and made an album in 2009, which was entitled "Hold Back My Heart."

Aside from his album, he also released an EP with three songs in 2012 entitled "Love and Sex." The musician with his distinctive voice tied the knot with Stacy Vuduris back in 2007.
