Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew finally drew a line in the hopes of Loic Remy's return and at long last have completed the signing of Striker Facundo Ferreyra on a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

Ferreyra, having a fine record as a striker, played for Shakhtar Donetsk last season; however, he refused to go back to Ukraine due to the political instability in the country.

His career started with Banfield in Argentina before moving on to Velez Sarsfield. There, he scored 17 goals in 24 matches which later on gave him an opportunity to switch to Shakhtar. The 23-year-old athlete had made just eight appearances for Shakhtar last season but he was able to score six goals for the team.

"I am very pleased to sign for Newcastle United. I like the Premier League and when I knew that Newcastle was interested in me, it was a very easy decision to make," he told the Newscastle's official website.

He was told by his friend Fabricio Coloccini whom he consulted regarding the matter not to think twice and close the deal immediately.

"Facundo is someone we know on a number of levels, including his friendship with Fabricio, and we think he could be a big success here at Newcastle," manager Alan Pardew added.

Ferreyra, being Newcastle's seventh signing in the summer, is a player who has played to his full potential at the top level. The athlete is highly regarded in Argentina as well as his former clubs.

"He has tremendous potential and hopefully he can realize that here at Newcastle United."
