Paul George Injury Gets Sympathy From Kobe Bryant, Other NBA Stars; Indiana Pacers Forward Undergoes Surgery As Recovery Optimistic

The nasty Paul George injury received much needed support and sympathy from Kobe Bryant and other NBA stars, as the Indiana Pacers forward underwent surgery and doctors are optimistic about full recovery.

Indianapolis Star's Candace Buckner tweeted that Kobe Bryant reached out to the all-star forward following the Paul George injury during the Team USA scrimmage.

"But I've heard that Kobe Bryant and other superstars have personally reached out to Paul George tonight. #NBAFamily," she tweeted on August 2.

The SportsIllustrated, meanwhile, gathered all the reactions and messages of support by NBA superstars in the aftermath of the Paul George injury.

Current NBA MVP Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder tweeted: "God bless u my brother @Paul_George24. Im hurt, praying for you. Praying for peace. Praying that God heals you in a supernatural way."

Three-time MVP LeBron James, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, tweeted: "Hurt my stomach the moment I heard the news! I didn't want to believe it. Man I need u out there bro!..."

Dwyane Wade chimed in: "Praying for @Paul_George24 for not only the player he is but the person he is. Injuries are the toughest part of sports."

Paul Pierce added: "My Prayers go out Paul George hurts me so bad seeing my Nba brothers go down on major injury pray for a speedy recovery."

James Harden then wrote on his Twitter: "Prayers go out to @Paul_George24 and his family! Keep ya head up G!"

Paul George sustained the injury while trying to block Houston Rockets guard James Harden and his foot landed on the stanchion, breaking his leg in the process.

According to Yahoo Sports, Paul George's surgery on the open tibia-fibula fracture was successful and will be released after three days. Marc Spears of Yahoo Sportsspoke to a source who claimed that the 6-9 forward will probably miss the 2014-2015 season, but the good news is that there's no ancillary damage to the leg.
