Carrying a price tag of less than $500, is Huawei Ascend Mate 2 indeed a good buy? While rumors imply that its successor will come out soon, here's what you need to know about this powerful device!
A good smartphone must give impressive traits when it comes to screen size, resolution and display quality, camera, software features, battery life, storage, and design. Now, let's see if Ascend Mate 2 can keep up with these standards.
The Ascend Mate 2 sports a 6.1-inch display with a resolution of 720x1280, 240 ppi. Although these numbers are relatively lower than Samsung Galaxy Note 3's 1080x1920, 386 ppi, Tech Radar claims that its interface still looks sharp. As per Slash Gear, the IPS LCD powered display is close to HTC One (M8). Despite the huge size of the device, Huawei assures that users can still conveniently use it with one hand.
Ascend comes with a 13MP rear camera with a Sony BSI sensor and 5MP front camera with a wide angle lens which guarantees clear selfies
From K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Huawei has now moved on to a Qualcomm chip. The phone running Android 4.3 which will be soon upgradeable to 4.4 has 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage capacity. Its Emotion UI 2.0 is somehow similar to the Old UI - simple and neat, designed to easily access applications from multiple home screens.
The battery life of Ascend Mate 2 does not disappoint as well. Its 4050mAh lets users enjoy phone for up to 2.5 days on a single charge.
But what Huawei really brings forward is the 4G LTE Cat4 which provides faster download speeds at 150 Mbps.
The look of the phone is minimalistic with its faux-metal plastic trim around the sides and a black plastic piece on the backside. Another extra feature of the phone is the "Gloves Mode", a touch-screen technology that allows users to take control of their devices even with gloves.
The phone is priced at $299 but then again, Ascend might have a hard time competing with Nexus 5 and Moto X for according to reviews, these mid-range phones offer better specs and user experiences at the same cost.
