Good news Marvel fans! The release date of the Amazing Spider-Man spin off movie, Venom has been revealed.
According to reports from Deadline.com, the Venom spin off movie ( now titled Venom Carnage) will be release sometime in 2017 as Alex Kurtzman will be directing and writing the film along with co-writer Ed Solomon.
A new rumor has surfaced that Flash Thompson's version of Venom will be used in the spin-off instead of the original Venom, Eddie Brock.
According to reports from ComcBook.com, Sony plans on using Flash Thompson as the titular character to give audiences a new perspective of the character in the Amazing Spider-Man movie universe, favoring him over the Eddie Brock. However, the producers of the film felt that it could become another huge controversy considering that Eddie Brock has established the Venom persona more than Flash Thompson.
The Venom spin-off producers and Sony had already made some controversies before regarding the Carnage casting and would likely do the same with Venom as well.
ComicBookMovie.com reports that Chris Zylka, who played Flash Thompson is in talks with the producers of the film. So far there has been no confirmation as of yet regarding his participation in the movie.
Meanwhile, Sony plans on making a Black Cat spin-off in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
Deadline.com has reported that Black Cat is one of few choices to have a stand alone film, along with other female Marvel characters such as Spider-Woman Jessica Drew, Silver Sable, and Firestar. The website further adds that Sony hired "Burn Notice" writer Lisa Joy to begin writing the script for these possible characters in the future.
Felicity Jones played Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and will return as her alter-ego Black Cat in The Sinister Six movie.
Of course, there is chance that Emma Stone's character Gwen Stacy might return to the Amazing Spider-Man, but as a different character.
There have been rumors that the Ultimate Marvel version of Gwen Stacy/Carnage might be added in the Venom spin off as antagonist.
Screenrant conducted an interview with Emma Stone before regarding her character's comeback in the Amazing Spider-Man movies.
"I don't know... is it? There could be a-I don't know, there's a whole plotline that could happen that may bring her back"
A blogger from Comicvine cited that if Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb decided on putting Gwen Stacy in future instalments, he would have the Clone Saga or the Carnage Transformation storyline.
The blogger further adds that if they want the Ultimate version of Carnage in the Venom Spin off movie, they would suggest finding a character with the similar traits as Ultimate Gwen Stacy or have the original Carnage Cletus Cassidy in the movie.
