UFC Fight Promotion Turns Into A Fist Fight Between Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier; 'Certainly NOT A Part Of The Promotion'

Mixed martial arts' nature is a fist fight, but it is inside a ring. However, heavyweight contenders Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier seemed to have forgotten that rule when they decided to have a go at it in their fight promotion.

"This is certainly not a proud moment for the UFC organization," Kirk Hendrick, the UFC's chief legal officer, said according to UFC.com.

It was in the photo opportunity in the hotel lobby where it all started, an ESPN report said. Cormier pulled Jones backward after the two hit their heads together.

Then, Jones, after controlling his balance, have punched his enemy full force. Dave Sholler, UFC Director of Communications, tried to separate the two, but Jones only pushed him aside into the canvas backdrop.

Then, the two got off the stage ungracefully, almost hitting a marble fountain in the lobby's center. The two continued to fight until MGM security came to separate the two.

Cormier went away immediately, but Jones returned to the stage, flexed, and then shouted at the people who gathered to watch their mini fight.

Then his manager, Malki Kawa, managed to pull Jones off the stage.

"We expect more from our athletes, especially these two gentlemen, who are very well-trained and highly educated professionals. Their actions were clearly a violation of the UFC's code of conduct," added Hendrick.

"There are going to be ramifications," the chief legal officer concluded. "Whether you're the champion, or this is your first fight in the UFC, there are going to be ramifications from the UFC for these actions."

Shortly after the fight, Jones tweeted, "Come on DC where was your takedown defense?" and "Put some ice on that face DC, you got lots of interviews tomorrow."

The fight for the heavyweight title and the two will be on September 27.
