The well-loved, classic book "A Wrinkle In Time" is now going to be made into a live action movie. And it's about time! The book was first published in 1962, and has been a favorite for young adults over the decades.
Disney studios has recently announced that it will be making a major live-action motion picture of "A Wrinkle In Time." According to Variety, the book is going to be adapted to the big screen by Frozen co-writer and director Jennifer Lee. Apparently Lee was able to convince Disney with the impressive vision she had about how the movie version of Madeleine L'Engle's book would look like.
"A Wrinkle In Time" by American novelist Madeleine L'Engle was first published in 1962. It follows the story of a young girl, Meg Murry, whose father mysteriously disappears as he is currently working on a government project called "tesseract." The book was not only well received by its fans, young and old alike, it also won numerous awards. It was the recipient of the Newbery Medal, Sequoyah Book Award, and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award. It was also a runner up for the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
L'Engle wrote a series of books on the Murry family, and they are collectively known as the Time Quintet. The titles of the other books in the series are "A Wind in the Door" (1973), "Many Waters "(1986), "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" (1978), and "An Acceptable Time" (1989).
Originally, it was reported that Jeff Stockwell (Bridge to Terabithia) was attached to the project in 2010. But later developments have the Frozen director taking over the reins to the movie. It's no surprise, since Jennifer Lee's stints at Disney have been quite successful. Lee was behind the heart-warming Wreck It Ralph of 2012, and of course, the incredibly successful Frozen, which won the Best Animated Feature at the 2014 Academy Awards.
