California wildfires 2014 latest update: a break in the weather helped efforts to contain the fire Tuesday.
There's good news in Northern California Wildfires 2014 latest update, as humid weather and light rains assisted efforts to cut into fires threatening hundreds of homes.
The favorable weather came with a downside, though; lightning flashes are primary causes of sparked fires, and just one could cause another outbreak anywhere in the region.
The Lassen National Forest was cut by fire in two sections. The larger one has burned through 62 miles of land. About a dozen homes in proximity to the fires were evacuated Tuesday, only allowed to return after the Bald Fire was sufficiently contained by the U. S. Forest Service.
The California wildfires 2014 location was spread across the state. Smaller fires were within sight of Burney, a town in Shasta County, but remained at least four miles away without advancing. The rage was visible and covered the mountain crest, but it's business as usual within the town of 3,000 as smoke filled the vicinity.
The Eiler fire has been controlled, or most of it at the very least. The Northern California wildfires 2014 latest update estimates the Eiler fire to have covered 45 miles of land, affecting around 700 homes in the area.
There's forecast of lightning in the area, but forest officials are hopeful the humidity and previous rains made conditions damp enough to prevent another blaze from spreading. At least one of two of the wildfires was caused by a lightning strike (The Bald fire).
Officials expected fires because of the drought, but were still taken aback at the speed and rage of the Eiler fires. Evacuees, who were all but practically inured to wildfires, were shocked.
The blaze is yet to be contained, in California wildfires 2014 latest update, with more than a dozen separate fires burning within the state. Dassel Hoffman of Cassel community describes the situation:
"Trees were just exploding. It was like a big monster -- just unbelievable how bad it was." (source: foxnews.com)
