"The View" TV show and "Today's" executives are changing networks. According to Daily News, swapping of top producers at ABC and NBC will bring new frontrunners to "The View" and the "Today" show. The Disney-owned company announced that executive producer Bill Wolff, who's currently running "The Rachel Maddow Show" and the vice president of prime-time programming for MSNBC will succeed The View's long-time chief Bill Geddie.
Reportedly, ESPN's top programmer Jamie Horowitz is set to become general manager of 'Today' in September. In return for NBC's Wolff, ABC has agreed to free ESPN's Horowitz, who now can join NBC. Horowitz's deal had locked him with ABC but now he can start another contract on first of September, three months earlier than planned.
Last June, ABC announced that "The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively."
Reportedly Wolff is the latest step in rebuilding the morning talk show, which will be hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell plus the upcoming unnamed hosts.
Mediaite stated that "The View is reportedly looking for at least two more regular hosts with possible candidates making appearances as guest-hosts this summer. CNN's S.E. Cupp has been a frequent presence on this show over the last few weeks and likely has a connection of some sorts to Wolff from her days as a host on MSNBC's The Cycle. Another name that has been thrown around, Alicia Menendez, appeared on MSNBC regularly before launching her own show on Fusion this past year."
At NBC, according to reports, Horowitz will lead direction of the morning show against its ABC arch-rival, "Good Morning America." Day-to-day operations will still be handled by executive producer Don Nash.
Reportedly, as ESPN's vice president of original programming and production, Horowitz developed a number of shows, including "First Take" and "Olbermann."
