The "Dead Island" movie 2014 will finally be made into a movie after a long delay, but will the plot be based on the original or sequal, or a little bit of both? No word yet on that regard, however, the video game sequel will be "playable" on GamesCom 2014.
According to Deadline, the delay in the "Dead Island" movie 2014 simply means that "filmmakers now have more material to mine."
"A tongue-in-cheek video game sequel set in Venice Beach is heading to shelves next spring and its own teaser has racked up 10M views since debuting in June at E3. Occupant and Deep Silver are hunting for a director with an innovative take based on either the first game or its sequel, or something in between," it said.
In an interview with Deadline, Occupant partners Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino-who will partner with publisher Deep Silver for the "Dead Island" movie 2014-said that Deep Silver "has created a highly successful game franchise based on very cinematic, widely viewed and well received trailers, which provide a great template for launching a film franchise with a distinctive and commercial take on the zombie apocalypse."
"We want to find the right filmmaker and present somewhat of an open canvas, to make something distinct and original that also appeals to and expands the core audience," the said.
The original "Dead Island" video game, which features a handful of survivors trying to ward off a bunch of zombies, sold over 8 million units.
Meanwhile, GameSpot revealed that the "Dead Island 2" video game "will be playable for the first time ever at GamesCom 2014. The convention will be open to the public and Deep Silver will set up 150 gaming stations for consoles and PC platforms so fans will have first crack at the game.
"Dead Island 2" video game will be launched in the spring of 2014 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
