Which smartphone is worth the purchase? We pit the the HTC Desire V against the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos S6802 to see which device better.

In terms of display, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos has a 3.5 inch TFT 320 x 480 display, capable of displaying 16 M colors, while the HTC Desire V has a larger 4 inch display with a maximum resolution of 800 x 480, and 223 ppi, compared to the Samsung unit's 165 ppi.

For the hardware and OS, both smartphones are equipped with a Snapdragon processor, but the HTC Desire V has a the Qualcomm MSM7227A clocked at 1 GHz, while the Samsung Ace Duos has only 832 MHz. The better processor allows the Desire V to complete tasks faster and smoother than its opponent.The Ace Duos has 3 GB of internal storage but, it only has 2 GB, while the HTC Desire V has only 4 GB. Both devices have 512 MB of RAM and microSD expansion capabilities up to 32 GB of additional storage space.

The HTC smartphone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out the box, due to its higher specs that make it capable of running things smoothly on a more advanced OS. For battery usage and camera specs, the HTC Desire V outmatches the Ace Duos with a bigger battery of 1650 mAh, compared to its competitor's 1300 mAh unit.

Both smartphones have a 5 MP camera with a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 however, the HTC Desire V has the advantage of a Flash LED (Ace Duos does not have a Flash LED just Auto-Focus), and even seems to capture photos at a greater quality, despite having the same MP as the Ace Duos. The LED Flash also helps the Desire V take better pictures in low-lighting conditions than the Ace Duos. Neither one comes with a front facing camera. Video recording at 30 fps, smile detection and geo-tagging, are among the features included.

In addition, the Sense 4 UI used on the HTC Desire V is better than the TouchWiz found on the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos, with newer functions and a more eye catching design. It also has a better layout, and nicer colors, that give it an overall nicer aspect than the TouchWiz, which isn’t as colorful and may not have all the features you can find on Sense 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos S6802 cost $165 in amazon .com, while the HTC Desire V is around $250.
