Rapper Wiz Khalifa failed to appear in court on marijuana possession charges filed against him in West Texas months ago.
Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, skipped Wednesday's arraignment schedule in an El Paso County misdemeanor court, according to ABC News.
As such, County Court-at-Law Judge Ricardo Herrera issued the rapper a bench warrant.
The rapper was arrested on May 25 at the El Paso International Airport after airport security officials found a small canister of marijuana on him. At that time, Khalifa was departing after his appearance at a local music festival. He was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana but was later on released after posting $300 bail, CBS Local reported.
As of late, Khalifa has not yet commented regarding his decision to skip court hearing. No lawyer has also been listed under his name.
Meanwhile, back in 2010, Khalifa opened to MTV News and admitted to using marijuana. At that time, the rapper was asked whether or not the prevalence of marijuana use in his music could potentially influence his listeners and supporters to do the same.
"I don't say, 'Yo, get up and do that.' I said that's what I do, and I tell you what I do while I'm doing it. I'm not trying to push drugs on anybody," Khalifa lamented.
"I thought weed was bad for a minute. When I was younger, I thought it was bad, but I got to a point where it worked for me. It don't work for everybody else. People gotta stay free, people need jobs, people got parents that probably wouldn't be with it, so don't ruin your life trying to be like me. That's my advice," the rapper added.
When the publication asked whether or not the "Black and Yellow" rapper thinks marijuana should be legalized, he said, "Definitely, legalize it. Please, everybody needs it. The world would be a better place."
