It seems the world's greatest detective is no match for the Time Lord, as "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch" was beaten by "Doctor Who" alum David Tennant to be crowned as Radio Times' Television Champion 2014.

According to the website, nine million votes wre cast "across 127 individual matches in the three-week-long tournament that pitched Britain's biggest television stars against one another."

In the end, there were only two left: "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch and "Doctor Who" alum David Tennant. The final tally to see who the Britain's television king or queen is was surveyed by Radio Times staff within a five-day span.

"Former 'Doctor Who' and 'Broadchurch' star David Tennant has been crowned RadioTimes.com Television Champion 2014, beating 'Sherlock's' Benedict Cumberbatch in a grand final that drew more than 2.85 million votes," it said.

"Doctor Who" alum David Tennant took in 1.53 million votes compared to 1.33 million for "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch.

The website listed 128 British stars for the contest, representing the whole gamut of television genres from comedy, drama, reality shows to news. The stars were then placed in 64 head-to-head polls to allow the public to make the final determination.

According to the Independent, not only fans have rallied support for their favorite starts, but celebrities also joined in such as Zawe Ashton, Karen Gillan, Amanda Abbington and Billie Pier.

Ricky Gervais even launched his own campaign so he could beat Martin Freeman, "The Hobbit" star and "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch's co-star in the BBCshow.
