Some panicked users even called police for help, according to Twitter posts by a sergeant from the Los Angeles county Sheriff's Department.

Reportedly, Facebook Inc appeared to come back online within about half an hour and said that the service to the world's largest online social network was fully restored already.
"Earlier this morning, some people had trouble accessing Facebook for a short time. We quickly investigated and have fully restored service for everyone. We're sorry for the inconvenience," Facebook said in an emailed statement dated August 1.
This is the second time that Facebook experienced outage within 2 months. According to Wall Street Pit, the site experienced a serious server crash on June 19 that lasted 30 minutes. Forbes reported the brief blackout cost the social network $500,000 in lost ad revenue.
