"Community" will be back for season 6 on Yahoo Screen after NBC ditched the show after its 5th season.
And while fans are excited for the upcoming season, others are starting to speculate whether Abed's "six seasons and a movie" reference will be true for the show in real life.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sony president of programming Zack Van Amburg, might have hinted on making the movie.
"There's no way we're not making the movie now. I think once we make the movie, let's look up and decide how much more Community the world wants. We promised six seasons and a movie, how much more do you want?... I'd be lying if I told you that we have not had some very early and preliminary conversations that are very exciting about what a potential movie could be and who might direct it," he said.
Meanwhile, the "Community" cast along with show creator Dan Harmon dished on some details about season 6 at the San Diego Comic-Con just recently.
Harmon shared his insights about the series' "resurrection," saying:
"I don't know. I don't know how I got my job back season five," he said. "Sony and Yahoo are giant corporations. Their tentacles reach... Hail HYDRA," Harmon added.
"I know that three hours before the deadline, we were called and asked if we really want to do another season. I think at first I said no and then an hour and a half later I said okay, because Yahoo seemed really cool and smart."
"I thought, 'Does it really matter where we're doing this?' Wherever we are people will find us, especially if it's on an easy app like Yahoo Screen which you can get on your desktop or iOS device or Android."
Joel McHale then shared his thoughts by saying he was confident that the show will be back.
"Like a Japanese general in World War II, there were only two options - victory or suicide," he said.
"I love the show. To have had a show on the air for as long as we have is hard, and to be as good of a show as we've been, and I think we have the greatest show in the history of media."
And as for having the series shown online, McHale said: "You young people out there don't watch TV on a schedule. You watch it when you want, on a tiny little screen and now we're on one. So fuck you, network television. Unless they want us back, like a simulcast or something, then network is great," he joked.
Harmon then said that the writing staff will most likely start on the new script during the fall, so new episodes will probably air by the end of December.
