Mazda aims to step it up a notch and keep them in the mix as they plan to unveil new car concept in the next two years.

According to Mazda Automobile Club, A Japanese forum of Mazda users, the newest Hazumi concept points towards a possible Mazda 2.5. The company revealed a plan at the Tokyo Motor Show to release five new models before March 2016. Mazda CEO, Masamichi Kogai made this announcement and now four of the five have been unveiled. These four are the Mazda 2, out later this year, the MX-5 which is also due this year, and the CX-3 and the CX-9. Mazda is now dropping hints about the fifth.

It may well be that the fifth model will be based on the Hazumi concept, as has been speculated for a while. However insider info makes it seem as if the wheelbase and width of the Hazumi doesn't match with the Mazda 2.

So, is Mazda making a new premium compact car - developed by Mazda R&D and possibly debuting at Geneva 2015. This source added that this car won't have the wing-style grille currently sported by Mazda - it's going back to the MX-5 style.

This car will most likely have a 1.5 litre SkyActiv turbo diesel or a 1.4 litre petrol engine and will enter the market to compete with the Citroen DS3 and the Mini.
