OnePlus OneWatch Release Date: OnePlus is reported to gear up to launch a smartwatch. After the debut of the OnePlus One smartphone which created some noise online due to its reported combination of high-end specifications and low price, leaks online says that company is allegedly close to launching its first smartwatch dubbed as OneWatch. According to BGR, they have received a detailed sketched of how the wearable will look like. Digital Trends described it as a round watch similar to how the Moto 360 looks like. However, PC Advisor stated that the company is not yet producing any.
"At the time of the Tab 'leak' OnePlus confirmed that it would not be launching any new products in 2014. Since then it has had to deal with all manner of customer complaints over OnePlus One yellow-screen issues," Marie Brewis of PC Advisor said.
The Moto 360 is so far the only android watch with a circular screen and high quality metal construction. According to the leak that BGR received, the OneWatch follows Moto 360's round form. It is said to have an OLED display protected by Sapphire glass, and the watch face surrounded titanium borders. Reportedly, OLEDs consume as much as 40% less power when displaying black images vs LCDs because they can turn off individual pixels. The opposite is true for battery-draining white backgrounds. This custom-made OLED display with mostly black watch face screensaver will help to reduce battery life consumption.
OneWatch allegedly has a crown or dial for controlling some of its functions. The leather strap is said to house a curved battery, which can be charged using a Qi wireless charger. It seems to be like the Moto 360 that charges wirelessly via magnetic induction according to Tech Radar. Motorola's Andoid wear photos reveal the rear of the watch which features a strange purple backing that is speculated to be used for the Qi charging method.
