Separating the Jay Z and Beyonce divorce rumors from truth is a bit of a challenge, with both sides smoke-screening reports they're on the verge of a breakup.
Jay Z and Beyonce divorce rumors persist in the middle of the couple's "On the Run" tour, and even though Beyonce's Instagram posts explicitly state everything is okay on the home front, other sources claim the contrary.
It' been reported Beyonce is looking for a new apartment; she's moving in with Blue Ivy, without Jay Z. If confirmed, this fuels the fire to the possibility the couple is sorting things out before they make the announcement, allegedly after their "On the Run" tour wraps up.
So how does their supposed spat affect ticket sales for their tour? Not much, it appears. Back when everything was peachy, hip-hop historian Jeffrey Chang even commented that "It's the closest thing to love that we have in America, this marriage."
The alleged scuffle with Solange in an elevator turned the tide around, also started the Jay Z and Beyonce divorce rumors. Both were reported to be at fault, with rumors of cheating raised.
Ticket sales of their "On the Run" dipped a bit, except for the last month leading to the first show. Sales spiked after the Kim Kanye wedding, though, which the couple stood up (forbes.com).
"Ticket prices for Jay-Z and Beyonce's On the Run Tour followed this trajectory, with no conceivable correlation between divorce rumors and ticket prices, with one exception. There was a notable bump of 25-50% in ticket prices during the time the couple was very famously vacationing in the Hamptons, and some thought, snubbing Kim and Kanye."
With all things considered, the couple's "On the Run" tour is a success, earning $100 million in 19 shows. Confirmation of the Jay Z and Beyonce divorce rumors will have to wait until the tour wraps up.
